I half-heartedly and eventually intently watched Weezer’s Guitar Center session on TV tonight. It turned out to be focused mainly on Pinkerton—which was a cornerstone of my youthful music enthusiasm (if that makes sense).

The album got atrocious reviews by everyone at the time, though it never occurred to me and my friends. His (Rivers) reasons behind making the album that he did were really inspired. And clearly they’ve been junk ever since; I think, because he decided he would try to emulate the Blue Album and then just got lost from himself. And in the process it seems he also lost touch with the fans who he probably impacted most. ‘Cause let’s face it, Pinkerton is magical.

Our first album isn’t even out yet. (BTW it’s slated for June. I know, I know. Not my idea. Clearly.) Anyway, our debut is sitting somewhere and this shit is already weirding me out. My only hope is that our album is so hard to pin down that it won’t matter where we go from here.
